The Minneapolis metropolitan area posted the lowest jobless rate in May, 1.6%, among all large US metro areas, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Cleveland posted the highest jobless rate in May at 5.5% among large metros.

Overall, the bureau noted that jobless rates fell year over year in May in all 51 US metro areas with populations of 1 million or more.

Among metro areas of all sizes, the Mankato-North Mankato area in Minnesota and the Rochester, Minnesota, area posted the lowest jobless rates in May at 1.3% each. The metro area with the highest unemployment rate in May was the Yuma, Arizona, metro area at 14.4%.
