Minnesota and Utah posted the lowest jobless rate among all US states in October at 2.1% each, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. The next lowest rates were in North Dakota and Vermont at 2.3% each.
Louisiana and Pennsylvania posted their lowest jobless rates since 1976, at 3.3% and 4.0%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the District of Columbia had the highest jobless rate in October at 4.8%. Illinois and Nevada posted the highest jobless rates among states at 4.6% each.
The states with the largest year-over-year decreases in jobless rates in October were California, down 2.1 percentage points, and New Jersey, down 2.0 points.
Oklahoma is the only state with a 0.5 percentage point year-over-year unemployment rate increase.
