US temporary staffing revenue rose by a median 26% year over year in August, according to Staffing Industry Analysts’ latest Pulse Survey. That’s down from a median 32% in the previous Pulse Survey report covering June.

Travel nurse staffing showed strong growth with revenue up a median 85% year over year in August. That compared to a median 95% year over year growth in the June survey.

Per diem nurse staffing revenue rose a median 28% year over year in August while allied healthcare revenue rose 33%.

Outside of healthcare, office/clerical staffing revenue rose a median 21% year over year in August while IT staffing revenue rose 19%.

The Pulse report also found that retained search revenue surged with median revenue growth of 53% year over year in August.

The number of firms taking part in the August survey was 169. Of those, 100 also took part in a separate survey question: “What impact is the current wave of rising Covid-19 cases having on your staffing business?” Twenty-five percent noted difficulty recruiting or faced decreased supply, and 24% reported they were experiencing increased demand. Only 17% said they were not affected by the recent Covid wave.
