Minneapolis had the lowest jobless rate in November at 1.9% among all US metropolitan areas with more than 1 million in population, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last week.

On the other hand, Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise recorded the highest rate at 5.6%.

Fargo, North Dakota, had the lowest unemployment rate among metropolitan areas of all sizes at 1.5% in November. The next lowest rates were in Mankato-North Mankato, Minnesota, and Rochester, Minnesota, at 1.6% each.

El Centro, California, had the highest jobless rate among metropolitan areas of all sizes in November at 16.7%.

Unemployment rates were lower in November than a year earlier in 235 of the 389 metropolitan areas, higher in 133 areas and unchanged in 21 areas. A total of 150 areas had jobless rates of less than 3.0%; on the other side of the spectrum, two areas had rates of at least 10.0%.

According to the BLS, 11 of the most populous metropolitan areas are made up of 38 metropolitan divisions, which are essentially separately identifiable employment centers. In November, Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall, Florida, had the lowest division unemployment rate, 1.5%.

Tacoma-Lakewood, Washington, had the highest jobless rate among the divisions at 5.3%.
