The total amount of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands increased by 16% in the eighth period (weeks 29-32, 19 July to 15 August) of 2021, compared to the same period last year, according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU). Turnover increased by 20% compared to the same period last year.
In the administrative sector, hours increased 20% in comparison to the same period last year and turnover increased 21%. In the industrial sector, hours increased 10% and turnover increased 14% in comparison to the same period last year. At the same time, in the technical sector, hours increased 15% and turnover increased 15% in comparison to the same period last year.
In May, the ABU and the NBBU (Dutch Association of Mediation and Temporary Employment Companies) announced that they reached an agreement with the LBV trade union (National Employee Interest Association) on an unaltered extension of the current Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) for temporary agency workers until 1 October 2021. However, negotiations over a new are proving difficult.
