Staffing Jobs Dip Slightly but Stay Strong in Third Quarter: ASA Data

Staffing jobs increased 2.1% year-to-year in Q3 2022, according to new data from the American Staffing Association (ASA), and U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 2.8 million temporary and contract workers per week. Temporary and contract staffing sales have increased 7.9% since Q3 2021, totaling $39.0 billion.

Moving away from a trend of quarter-to-quarter gains after first quarter declines, staffing jobs inched down 0.3% quarter-to-quarter. However, temporary and contract staffing sales have grown 1.4% since last quarter.

Staffing firms remain optimistic about Q1 2023, anticipating revenue growth of 10.0% year-to-year. Full-year revenue for 2022 is projected to increase 10.5% from the previous year.

According to Richard Wahlquist, ASA president and chief executive officer, staffing services continue to experience a healthy demand. “U.S. businesses recognize that staffing companies are uniquely equipped to meet the hiring challenges of today and provide them with the workers and the workforce agility they need to compete, grow, and thrive in the coming year.”
